Here in My Home - Sibu, Sarawak part 1

Meet Bubu in Visit Sibu Year 2017
2017 is a Visit Sibu Year. The mascot for Visit Sibu Year 2017 is a crocodile named BUBU. BUBU actually stands for "Bujang, Sibu". The word, Bujang means warrior in Iban language. What's so special about my hometown?

Well, there's plenty of affordable foods (very cheap). Imagine, you can get a kampua mee (or known as mee kicap) for RM2.50. If you're here in Sibu and you do not know where to eat??? Kamon.... There's a lot of cheap and delicious food~ Or you can visit HERE[1] for more food recommendations in Sibu. There's also a lot of interesting places in Sibu. And plenty of events in Sibu in conjunction with the Visit Sibu Year. Click HERE[2] for the calendar and events.

Alright, enough about my hometown~ Haha. But, honestly speaking, you should plan a 3 days 2 nights in Sibu. A short and simple one will do. Sibu, Heartland of Borneo.

During my CNY period, i actually roamed around Sibu snapping photos of the listed companies from Sibu. In my list, there are 9 companies from Sibu listed in our FBMKLCI. Hence, in conjunction with Visit Sibu Year 2017, i will also brief through the FA and TA of the companies. The sequence below are not in order, and of course these are not BUY call too.

1. RSAWIT

RSAWIT, JTIASA, SUBUR

RSAWIT office is located in the RH Building

Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King is the founder and chairman of Rimbunan Hijau Group. Recently he appeared in The Star Business News, ranked 31 at the Top 40 Richest in Malaysia[3]. Rimbunan Hijau Group is engaged in forestry, oil palm, media, ICT, hospitality, tourism, property development, trading, human capital development and other industries also[4]. He had total of 4 listed companies in Malaysia. The first one is RSAWIT.

Revenue and Net Profit for RSAWIT in 2 years

RSAWIT had been making losses in 2015. RSAWIT is an oil palm plantation company. In the latest Q3, 2016, the company had made a profit of RM2 mil, but it still require another RM19 mil to turn the tide. They will be announcing the Q4, 2016 result in this coming February. Meanwhile, CPO price had climbed above RM3,000[5]. This might be a good news for RSAWIT, but still we need to check the production from RSAWIT's plantation field.

RSAWIT Daily Chart
Previously, RSAWIT had a double bottom and it rebounded and hit 0.625, forming a resistance. Then it formed a death triangle and the price fall back to 0.48. Subsequently forming an ascending triangle with a resistance of 0.53. In the short term, SMA20 had climbed above SMA40.

2. JTIASA

JTIASA Office
JTIASA is involved in the timber and palm oil plantation. JTIASA owns a large forest concession area of about 713,200 hectare in Sarawak. Recently due to the enforcement of rules related to timber or forest certification and sustainable forest management, the timber-related activities may be facing a tougher outlook.

Revenue and Net Profit for JTIASA
Fundamentally JTIASA had been doing great. The revenue for 2014, 2015 and 2016 is maintained at RM1,000 mil, while the net profit had been fluctuating due to the CPO price. JTIASA will be announcing their Q2, 2017 result in this coming February. Since the palm oil had been in the uptrend since 2016, therefore, we can expect JTIASA to post favourable results.

JTIASA Daily Chart
JTIASA broke from the uptrend channel and go sideways. However, it seems like JTIASA is challenging a resistance of around 1.44. Notice a big volume kicking in on 3 February? Maybe its a good sign from the market consensus. The SMA20 had just crossed over SMA40 and hopefully it can break through the resistance of 1.44 and climb all the way to north.

3. SUBUR

SUBUR Office
Similar to JTIASA, SUBUR is a sister company engaging in the same industry as JTIASA, which is in forestry and palm oil.

Revenue and Net Profit for SUBUR
Revenue and net profit for SUBUR had been in a downtrend. The net profit slipped to red in 2016. In the Q1, 2017, the net profit is RM150k while the revenue had started to pick up, mainly due to the uptrending price of palm oil.

SUBUR Daily Chart
SUBUR had been in downtrend. Beware of the volume and it is not an active stock. If we want to trade, we should stay cautious.

4. MEDIAC

Next is MEDIAC. MEDIAC is in charged of publishing, printing and distribution of Chinese language newspapers, magazines and books. The most famous newspapers that are under MEDIAC are Ming Pao Daily News (明报), Sin Chew Daily (星洲日报), Nanyang Siang Pau (南洋商报), China Press (中国报), Guang Ming Daily (光明日报), not to forget the students magazine in the school, 小星星,星星周刊,学海 etc etc. The main office of MEDIAC is not in Sibu, it is actually in Selangor. But the Group Executive Chairman and Executive Director is still the powerful Tan Sri Datuk Sri Tiong Hiew King, which made MEDIAC is another listed company from Sibu.

Revenue and Net Profit for MEDIAC
If you notice MEDIAC's revenue and net profit, it had dropped a lot since 2015 as the paid newspapers had decreased and the spending on magazines had plunged 18.4%[6]. The real reason i had not study into it but the initial guess is everybody is going into electronic magazines and electronic newspapers. Same goes to advertising, people will advertise in facebook or other free channels.

MEDIAC Daily Chart
Technically, MEDIAC's chart rebounded after the Fibonacci 61.8%. The SMA20 is beginning to cross over SMA40. The next resistance will be the Fibonacci 50%, which is around 0.64. They will be announcing their Q3, 2017 in this February too.

I will continue on the Here in My Home - Sibu, Sarawak part 2 in the next post. (Because i wanna go for kampua as supper already.. hehe). See you in my next post~
